11:00pm – Harun Tekin & Burak Güven as mor ve ötesi STRIPPED & INTIMATE
The two songwriters of Turkey’s most distinguished rock band mor ve ötesi are hitting the West Coast in March with a mainly acoustic set – as a stripped down duo performing an all-mor ve ötesi repertoire. The show is designed to be an intimate gathering where the audience can witness the bare-bones delivery of the band’s numerous hits and hidden gems by Harun Tekin (vocals, guitar, piano) and Burak Güven (bass, vocals).
ABOUT mor ve ötesi:
One of Turkey’s premier rock bands, mor ve ötesi came together in Istanbul in 1995. The band redefined Turkish rock music with its groundbreaking, quarter-million-selling fourth album “Dünya Yalan Söylüyor” and its socially & politically charged themes. No stranger to heavy touring, the band played over 500 concerts, 5 domestic nationwide tours, and 3 European tours. The band’s 7th studio album “Güneşi Beklerken” was released at the end of 2012 to great critical and commercial acclaim.
Based in Los Angeles, Twenty7 is a 3-member world music/Turkish rock band that was named a top unsigned band and compared to the likes of U2, Muse, and Queen by respected trade publication MUSIC CONNECTION. The band’s “No Chemical Love” from their Papatya EP was nominated for Best Indie Rock Song at the 2011 Artists in Music Awards and its single “Second Mind” was featured in the recently-debuted film ABOUT CHERRY, starring James Franco and Heather Graham. Twenty7’s next move is a 3-song EP, currently being recorded with an award-winning producer.
